The Legacy of Hawaiian Healing Lives Through Us

Born from ancient teachings, Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals continues the sacred lineage of Hawaiian plant medicine — passed from teacher to student, mother to daughter, and forest to heart.

Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals is more than a company — it’s a living continuation of a sacred lineage of Hawaiian healing. Founded in 1993 by Joy Johnson and her daughter Melia Goodenow, HRN was born from decades of mentorship under some of Hawai‘i’s most respected kahuna healers. Through their guidance, and through the living spirit of the rainforest itself, Joy and Melia learned that true healing is not taken from nature — it’s given through relationship.

Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals was founded by Joy Johnson and Melia Goodenow to continue the authentic lineage of Hawaiian healing taught by Kahuna Morrnah Simeona and Papa Henry Awae. Each essence is a living bridge between teacher, student, and the forest.

The Teachers Who Planted the Seeds

Mentored by Kahuna Morrnah Simeona & Papa Henry Awae

Joy and Melia studied directly under Kahuna Lapaʻau Morrnah Simeona — the beloved teacher who brought ho‘oponopono to the modern world — and Papa Henry Awae of Hilo. Through years of apprenticeship, ceremony, and hands-on healing, they were taught that medicine begins with humility. The plants are not resources. They are elders.

From Morrnah they learned the discipline of prayerful preparation and energetic clearing. From Papa Henry they learned how to walk the forest properly — how to ask permission, how to listen, and how to leave no trace but gratitude.

Walking the Forest in Pono

Medicine Is Asked For — Never Taken

Before a single blossom is gathered, prayer is spoken. Permission is asked. The healer listens. If the plant does not consent, it is left untouched. This is the first law of Hawaiian healing: relationship before remedy.

Each flower essence begins not with harvest, but with humility. The forest teaches patience. The forest teaches timing. The forest decides when the medicine is ready.

Every Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals essence begins with prayer and permission. Healing is never taken — it is offered through sacred relationship with the land.

The Living Energy of the Rainforest

Mana Is Not a Metaphor — It Is a Force

The Hawaiian rainforest is not just scenery. It is alive with mana — the animating life force that moves through volcanic soil, rising mist, ancient trees, and blooming ʻŌhiʻa Lehua. This is not symbolic energy. It is felt. It is tangible. It is the presence that steadies the nervous system the moment you step beneath the canopy.

When blossoms are gathered in right relationship, that mana infuses the water. When the essence is prepared in prayer, that mana is preserved. When you take the drops, that mana becomes part of your own restoration.

The mana of the Hawaiian rainforest lives within every essence — a tangible life force gathered in prayer and carried into each drop for emotional and spiritual balance.

A Mother, A Daughter, A Calling

Healing Passed from Heart to Heart

What began as mentorship became mission. What began as study became stewardship. Joy and Melia did not simply learn techniques — they inherited responsibility. Responsibility to the teachers who trusted them. Responsibility to the land that opened to them. Responsibility to those seeking healing across oceans.

The work has always been relational. Mother to daughter. Teacher to student. Forest to healer. Healer to you.

Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals is a living lineage — a sacred responsibility carried from mother to daughter, teacher to student, and land to healer.

Why Authentic Lineage Matters

Not All Flower Essences Are Created in Relationship

In a world where “natural” has become a marketing term, authenticity matters. Hawaiian plant medicine is not a trend. It is a cultural inheritance. It is a sacred trust. Without lineage, without permission, without relationship, the medicine becomes diluted — not just chemically, but spiritually.

Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals exists to preserve the integrity of this tradition. Every essence carries the prayers, protocols, and teachings that came before it.

An Invitation to Remember

The Forest Is Not Separate from You

Healing is not something added to you. It is something uncovered within you. The flower essences do not impose balance — they remind you of the balance you already carry.

The rainforest is alive with memory. The land remembers harmony. The body remembers harmony. The spirit remembers harmony. Sometimes all that is needed is a gentle drop to bring that memory back to the surface.

Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals invites you to remember your own balance. Each essence is a gentle reminder of harmony already living within you.
